Ark Regional Services has a remarkable history that began in 1956 with a small group of dedicated parents. Motivated by the belief that their children should have the opportunity to live and learn in their own community, close to family and friends, they formed the Albany County Association for Retarded Children in 1956 and later incorporated as a nonprofit in 1963. Our history is full of innovative ideas and forward thinking solutions that have resulted in what we believe are the best possible supports and services available for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
